Fiona Callow's blog about getting inspired and staying inspired. Yes, this is the home of "Try It On Tuesday" -- that’s when I take a dress, try it on, have a photo taken, then write something inspired by the dress that gets posted on Tuesday. (If the mood strikes I sometimes post more often, too.) It's a writing exercise for me, something I designed to keep writing fun for me. (I write these stories fast, usually in the gaps in my day. I am also writing a novel.) What's the point of all this, you ask? For me: mental stimulation, staying creative, trying out new ideas ... For you: frivolity, procrastination, a reprieve from the chaos of your life. You get to read some fiction. I get to write some. It's a win-win situation.

Try it On Tuesday: July 20th

I am thrilled that I wrote this in one short burst just this morning (maybe an hour, with some interruptions for coffee and Lego piece finding). It goes to show me that I need to do it more often, the writing in bursts to play around.

Inspiration, in no particular order:

-the dress, and my position in the bathtub (a wonderful suggestion by Julie, the photog!), led me to think of mysteries

- the smirk led me to think of something funny(ish)

-Heather and I had the conversation that I describe here

-I was watching clips of the Muppets on Youtube with my kid this morning before I started writing

Happy tuesday, y’all. At Bonnie’s request, I’m aiming to do start a “Friday Frolic (or Frock-lic)” as well.
