Fiona Callow's blog about getting inspired and staying inspired. Yes, this is the home of "Try It On Tuesday" -- that’s when I take a dress, try it on, have a photo taken, then write something inspired by the dress that gets posted on Tuesday. (If the mood strikes I sometimes post more often, too.) It's a writing exercise for me, something I designed to keep writing fun for me. (I write these stories fast, usually in the gaps in my day. I am also writing a novel.) What's the point of all this, you ask? For me: mental stimulation, staying creative, trying out new ideas ... For you: frivolity, procrastination, a reprieve from the chaos of your life. You get to read some fiction. I get to write some. It's a win-win situation.

Inspiration for the {fragment}

First of all, apologies for not giving you more to read. I do like this opening. I will return to it, as soon as I can. This last week has been very busy for me. I’m still putting in my time on my novel (I have people that yell at me, bless them, when I do not put in the time) but I am having to do that around several other pressing commitments, writerly and otherwise. I have not had time to branch out. Thursday looks good for a return to some creative play, definitely by the weekend. I will post something new to make it up to you all. The good news is that I have tons of new photos to work with, thanks to Lisa and Julie, who both did an amazing job. I get new ideas every time I open the “Fiona’s Second Series” folder on my computer (so I couldn’t even open it this week, lest I be tempted away from The Work That Needs Doing by my dark mistress, The Writing That Wants To Be Written.)

Oh, inspiration: I’m thinking a kind of free spirit, maybe someone who had the chance to be unconventional. Someone with regrets masked by bold prints. Someone who has looked after herself into her fifties (because you would have to in order to pull off this dress —). Quirky. Possibly someone who has inherited a house and finds the yearbooks there. Damn, there I go imagining things again. Must go be boring for a while, until the List shrinks enough for me to go out and play again.
